Office update part 1: Sconces + light trick
As part of our office update I wanted to add sconces above our bookshelves, but I knew that we weren't going to plan on hardwiring these so I wanted to find a way to be able to add light without it costing a fortune! I ended up using the Magic Light Trick from Nesting With Grace and it was so easy!
I'll be sharing the sources here and some of the steps along the way:
Sources:
Sconce: Young Love Dapper Light Sconce (Brushed brass + white shade)- Shades of Light
Lights: Puck lights w/ remote control: I ordered the set of 3, but if you have more you can get a larger pack of them
NOTE: Be sure to have some AA batteries- each puck light takes 3 batteries
There are a few options for securing the puck light to the sconce (double sided tape, velcro, etc.) but I chose an idea that Nesting with Grace shared from a follower which was gluing a PVC pipe to the back of the puck light and then screwing in that piece where a light bulb would go in. It worked great!
Supplies:
Puck light
PVC adaptor- Lowe's
Super glue
Instructions: Attach the PVC adaptor to the back center of the puck light with super glue. Let dry for 10-15 minutes. Once completely dry, screw in the adaptor where the light bulb will go, and Ta Da! Super easy!
Use remote control that comes with the puck light to turn it on and off, adjust the dimness, set a timer, etc.
