DIY succulent garden

Succulents are some of my favorite plants since they are usually pretty easy to maintain and keep alive.

While there are succulents you can purchase that are pre-arranged, they can be a bit pricey. I've found that creating your own can save some money, and it can be an enjoying and simple process along the way.

Here are some tips for creating your own succulent garden:

1) Find a container/pot to hold the succulents and choose the size. You can make your garden whatever size you want. I found this ceramic and bamboo bowl at Home Depot, which is medium size.

2) Pick your succulents. There are so many kinds of succulents, so this is totally your preference! I like to choose a variety of shapes, color and size so that it creates more of a "garden" type look.

3) Get soil fast-draining soil. While succulents do need water, they tend to like dry soil. I purchased an all-purpose garden soil mix from Home Depot.

4) Begin planting! Fill your pot/container with potting soil. Make sure to fill it up enough so that the succulents will raise right above the pot/container once complete. Succulents don't need a ton of room to grow, but make sure to space them out a little bit. Once the succulents are planted in the soil, pack down the soil on the top to make sure they are in there good. Give them some water, and you are done! It's as easy as that!
