Want to update your home in 2018, on a budget? Here are some tips!
Can you believe that 2017 is almost over with?! With the new year approaching, this is usually the time we start looking at the list we started when we moved into our home for renovations, updates, decor ideas, etc.
If you're on a budget, like we are, then you may have some wishes and wants for your home next year. Well the good news...it can totally happen! You don't have to have large budgets to transform your house and watch your vision come to life. All it takes is prioritization and patience (let's be honest..being patient has always been a challenge for me..)
Here are some tips to keep in mind, whether you are taking on small or large projects:
-Start with a list of everything you want to accomplish around your home- this can be anything from decorating to renovations.
-Once you have that list, and depending on your budget, highlight the 3-5 projects that are at the top of your list. Think about the ones you just can't wait to get you (or someone else's) hands on. The one thing that either really bothers you about your house, or something that will really transform the space. Bring these to the top of the list.
-Once you have the top projects highlighted, begin budgeting these out. Do your shopping and make sure you get plenty of estimates and costs.
Take a look at Pinterest and get inspiration. I've linked by Pinterest account here in case you want to check out some of my boards for inspo.
Here are some of our projects on our list this year. These all may not happen and there may be other priorities, but life doesn't always go as expected and sometimes there are other situations that get in the way. This is important to understand during this process.
-PAINT! I have been wanting to paint our walls ever since we moved in. I love neutrals and beige, but I'm ready to change it up and brighten up the inside of our home. I'm thinking light grey, creams, etc.
-Bathrooms are up next on our list. Outside of our backyard renovation the bathrooms will be one of our largest renovation projects that we PLAN on taking on ourselves (wish us luck!). We're not going to go all out this year on the bathrooms, but we're going to take it one step at a time. We plan on starting on our master bathroom and completing all of the tile (removal and insert) on the floor, surrounding the bathtub and shower. Gutting our shower and doing a complete makeover is on the list.
